The Local Government Unit of Hinatuan launched its new information technology center which is called Farmers‘ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center on May 18, 2023.
Municipal Mayor Shem G. Garay led the formal turn-over of the new building, together with Acting Vice Mayor Nerito P. Malinao and Sangguniang Bayan Members. Highlights of the ceremony were the ceremonial ribbon cutting and the blessing by Rev. Fr. Eric Jorge J. Dueňas, Parochial Vicar.
Also present in the activity were Honorable Anthony Joseph P. Caňedo, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member-District II of Surigao del Sur, Dr. Jessie V. Beldia, OIC, Center Director of DA-ATI-Caraga Region, Mr. Mark Quico, Surigao del Sur Provincial Agriculturist, Mrs. Severina C. Pore, former Municipal Agriculturist, and Representative of Bayalas Construction/DM Builder. They were joined by LGU Department/Office Heads, MAO Personnel led by Ms. Maria Elena R. Ravelo, Acting Municipal Agriculturist, Farmers/Farmer-Leaders, and other stakeholders.
The FITS building serves as the Information Center which aims to offer farming technology and agriculture-related information services. It also targets to increase farmers’ awareness and understanding of the agricultural programs and services by providing fast and easy access to information and technology services. This high-impact infra project is an initiative of the present administration led by Mayor Garay and Vice Mayor Atty. Tito A. Canedo III funded from the 2022 Gender and Development (GAD) Fund.
