Hinatuan through Executive Order No. 05 Series 2020 is imposing a temporary ban on visitors from China and other tourists coming from identified nations infected with Corona Virus from entering tourism destinations and facilities within the municipality.
Operators of tourism-related establishments who were served with the Executive Order expressed concern over its possible impact on their businesses and the town’s tourism industry. However, they respect the decision of the local government that the safety of the public remains to be the priority.
Acting Mayor, Vice Mayor Tito A. Cañedo III, said he would welcome the prohibition of Chinese visitors on the tourism destinations and facilities to protect public health. “Health should come first above everything else,” Cañedo said speaking before Municipal Officials and Employees on Monday as Acting Mayor while Mayor Shem G. Garay takes his leave of absence. He further said that the temporary ban order will certainly affect local tourism but it would be costlier if public health is neglected.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Health Office has been conducting information dissemination activities on the preventive measures against coronavirus.
