In October 2000, the Philippines was certified as Polio-free. But recently, the DOH confirmed that Polio is re-emerging in the Philippines after two cases of polio from Laguna and Lanao del Sur were confirmed. In line with the declaration of a nationwide epidemic in the Philippines, intensified surveillance and active case finding was instructed on Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) in all health facilities and intensive facility records review of AFB cases.

The RDRRMC issued Memorandum No. 28s2019 re: Dissemination of DOH’s Polio Vaccination Campaign on November 27-December 7, 2019 with target age group of less than 5 years old.

For the Municipality of Hinatuan, our Health team vaccinators were able to cover 4,888 children (93%) for the first round. The second round will be conducted on January 22-February 2, 2020.
